This past weekend was the Boston LDS Education Conference. It involved a session of church on Friday night (which I didn't attend), the conference on Saturday afternoon, the masquerade ball on Saturday night, and another session of church on Sunday morning. I don't want to go over every single thing, but some memorable things definitely were:
-waking up late and having AJ pounding on my door at 6 in the morning, eventually opening the door and turning on the light to wake me up...whoops
-making friends with my group, especially this super cool girl Ashley. People asked if we knew each other from before because we got along so well.
-chilling with my BFF Elyse
-listening to the founder of JetBlue speak about all these ways we can do missionary work through the internet
-listening to Elder Ballard speak (twice!)
-eating at Applebee's in our fancy dresses
-dance!! super fun because people didn't dance gross like at most any other event
-Thriller spectacular: some people had planned and choreographed a dance to Thriller...kind of severely amazing
-playing the Alphabet Game on the ride home...and winning both times.
-getting to know the Dartmouth YSA even better, which really makes me happy and definitely makes me feel more at home here. I'm so glad that I made the decision to come here and that Heavenly Father led me to this place where I could make the friends I have and have the experiences I do.
Sunday night I also got a prospie! Her name is Claire, she plays viola, and she is not sure what she wants to major in. She was super sweet and really enthusiastic so I loved having her around. Sunday night was also floor mixers! The idea was for about 6 people to be "hosts" that would keep their doors open, serve non-alcoholic drinks (sad but true that we need to make that distinction clear here), and play music they liked. The rest of us were supposed to just go to the rooms, mingle, talk to our floor, get to better know the people we live with. It ended up that most of us would end up congregated in one room at a time but it made me realize just how much I love my floor. They are all so great and amazing in their own way and I love when we all hang out together. Tonight we're having a pizza party in the Brittle lounge, should be fun.
The week was pretty blah, just homework, class, extra curriculars, the usual. Whateverrrrrr. Haha but on Thursday in fencing I had two guys duel to win me. Pretty hilarious. I had given this kid Stephen my glove cause his didn't work for some reason so when I was up to fence I was like, "Hey Stephen, can I have the glove back?" and everybody goes "Oooooooo, sharing gloves? Next they'll be holding hands!" and other such heckling. So when I went up, this other kid Jake was helping hook me up to the electronic system (it goes off when your blade makes contact with any part of the other person's body) and he was like "Hey Stephen...you getting jealous?" And so then when they fenced against each other they were like "For the lady's heart." And when Jake won he was like, "Yes! YOU'RE MINE." It was so hilarious. I love our fencing class cause we're such a small class and everybody is just sooo different haha.
This weekend should be kind of nice. Slower than other ones so I might actually have a chance to breathe. EXCEPT THAT IT'S LIKE 30 DEGREES OUTSIDE :( And it's supposed to snow soon!! I don't know if I'm ready for this yet...haha but it's inevitable regardless if I want it or not.
