"During your four years, remember these four P's. Find your passion, be persistent in achieving mastery, pursue knowledge in the way that works best for you, and embrace the planet's problems, because no one will be more prepared to fix them than you." -President Jim Yong Kim, September 22, 2009
:)
Today was our first Ivy League football game. Actually the game is happening right now, but me, Damaris, Anne, and Jing were not really feeling it. I planned on going but then it started pouring when we were walking to breakfast, so that kind of put a damper on the plan. It has been raining on and off for basically the whole week. LAME! Haha so today for the game they went around to every cluster and were banging this huge bass drum and basically rounding up everybody to go down to the stadium. However, I guess we were all like not up for it. So these upperclassmen guys come into our dorm shouting for us to join the parade and when no one came they were like "F*** YOU THIRTEENS! YOU SUCK!!" I just thought it was hilarious that nobody came out haha.
A lot of us are planning to go to the soccer game later tonight (cause again, WE'RE GOOD AT IT :D) and then Damaris and I are going to the DSO social thing. They sent us these invitations that said "Hello, babies. It's time you joined the family." Best part is that the background is all these pictures from our facebooks (they used the one I had from Photobooth of me, Erin, and Sara) and it's just amazing haha. I'm so excited for DSO! They seem so friendly and awesome, I love it. After that, we wanna have like a girl's night and watch movies (you can rent them from the library fo free!)
Last night a lot of us (15!!) went to Yama, this Japanese/Korean restaurant in town. I had chicken yakisoba...pretty delish. It was really nice to get off campus for a while and not eat dining hall food :). After that, Natalia, Jing, Anne, and I played some foosball then we migrated down to Damaris's room. Jing and Anne went out with Andrew and Lilly, so Damaris and I spent like 3 hours talking about classical music and showing each other awesome YouTube clips of our favorite pieces. I love love love that there is someone else who really isn't into the frat scene and totally into music instead. Makes life so much easier. We ended up staying up until like 3:30, almost 4. Anne came back and joined us for some good conversation and Clau came in a little later too. Floor love <3
Even though I'm finding people who aren't into the party scene, I still get very apprehensive each weekend just because I feel like the pressure is so great to go out. I know that I would never ever drink or anything and I don't feel any pressure to do that at all, but I feel like if I don't go out to the frats with people that I'm missing some integral part of the social scene. You know, like every one will be out making friends with each other and I'll be sitting in my room instead. That's why it's comforting to have Damaris who doesn't drink and isn't interested in wasting her nights walking around from frat to frat.
Dartmouth is amazing. I'm loving my classes; I'm loving the friends I'm making; I'm loving getting letters from bestfriends and family :) I'm just all around loving everything!

Some of my favorite parts of college:
-philosophical talks about the meaning of life and everything at midnight
-froyo at FoCo late at night
-skipping, laughing, piggy-back riding from the dorm to Thayer and back
-not doing homework in the designated "study room"
-dancing to Miley Cyrus
And prob a million more things, but that's basically summing up last night haha.

Went to my first fencing class where we worked on footwork and such. Pretty fun. A nice small class with 2 other girls and about 7 boys, maybe 8?
I thought it would be nice to mention all the main people here at Dartmouth so that if I mention them in future entries I won't have to keep re-explaining who they are.
Hannah: my roomie; super sweet and hilarious; parties quite a bit but never too out of control (except for 1 time...)
Damaris: lives next door; plays violin (we're both in DSO :D); has a HILARIOUS laugh -- also can't stop laughing once she stops; good for girl talk and fun to be with
Anne: lives on the other side of Damaris; funny; a fellow palesie; I hang in her room or Damaris's when I don't have anything to do (or even when I do have things to do)
Jing: lives a floor above; hangs out with us all the time; hilarious; loves Harry Potter and Twilight
Natalia: lives two floors above; in my Bio class; hangs out with us a lot; funny and really sweet
Lilly: Anne's roommate; occasionally does stuff with us, but more into the party scene than most of us are
Zoe, Clau, Caitlin, Barbara: other girls on my floor; all really nice and friendly
Chris: lives on my floor; one of the first people I met in the Choates; super nice and good at math (aka extremely helpful)
Andrew: lives on my floor; in my math class; most times I'll eat lunch with him and Paul and Tom (see below); hilarious even though he is mostly quiet; really really really likes football and soccer
Tommy: lives on my floor; in my Bio class; interested in a lot of the same clubs as me (Cabin and Trail); AWESOME at guitar
Paul and Tom: went on the same trip as Jing and Andrew; hang out occasionally with us; both live in the Choates; hilarious, especially when together (Ex. Old men were giving out Bibles on the Green and we didn't know what to do with ours cause we didn't want to throw them away, so instead Tom would stop groups of people and say, "ARM YOURSELVES WITH KNOWLEDGE, BROTHERS!!" while giving them one of the Bibles.); Tom is also in my math class
Tarun, Chris, Millen, Marian, Jose: all super hilarious, spent a lot of orientation hanging out with them, good for just chilling and singing random songs really loud :)
Robbie, Ben, Jack, Alfredo, Odochi, Ryan, Brad, Nick, Dave, Peter, Austin, Grant, Sang, Jason: other guys on my floor; some nicer or more social than others, but all generally great
Elyse, Sage, AJ, Jess, Brad, Chase, Maurice, Dillon, Chantel (I think that's how you spell it?): Mormon kids! Really fun to be with (though we're kind of unorganized about everything...)
Rachel, Tim, Joe, Nik, Frasier: fellow J48 trippees! Extreme hikers fo'evs haha.
I think that is most everybody important for right now haha.
Went to the soccer game with Andrew and Tommy to watch Brad play. Turns out we're really awesome at soccer!! Makes up for the less-than-stellar football team. We left a little early so we didn't get to see Brad play (he plays bench most time haha) but may I just say that I was FREEZING at the game. It was at 6 in the night and like 47 degrees. Kinda ridiculous. Just a little.
